This talk will take a look at the extraordinary life and art of Aubrey Beardsley. With Tate Britain’s current exhibition as a spring-board, it will discuss the remarkable images that Beardsley created over the course of his tragically short career, and which have remained so distinctive and resonant today.

Alice Insley will kindly deliver this talk for us. Alice is Assistant Curator, Historic British Art at Tate Britain, with a particular focus on art of the eighteenth century. Her most recent projects have included the spotlight displays ‘1819: Year of Revolution?’ and ‘John Opie’, as well as the 2020 Aubrey Beardsley exhibition at Tate.
