Augustus De Morgan, Professor of Mathematics at University College London and founding President of the London Mathematical Society, was a celebrated teacher, logician, and witty wielder of the pen. Prof. June Barrow-Green, Professor of History of Mathematics at the Open University, discusses the multifaceted mathematical world of this prodigious mathematician.

William did not attend as many mathematics classes as his father would have liked, but as De Morgan Foundation Curator Sarah Hardy demonstrates, he nevertheless possessed an impressive understanding of mathematical principles. Combining symmetry and geometry with incredible artistic technique, he created the most intriguing and inventive ceramics of the Victorian period.
